A Sidney man was arrested Tuesday in connection to two supermarket purse thefts last Sunday.

Neil R. Estabrook, 38, was detained and charged with two counts of theft after allegedly stealing purses from the Michigan Street Kroger and Walmart.

Estabrook was one of two people sought by the Sidney Police Department for questioning in the thefts. The other, a 17-year-old girl who's identity is known by police, will not be charged.

Police said the arrest was in part a result of tips from the public.

Estabrook is being held in the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Shelby Municipal Court Wednesday morning.

Additional charges may be presented to a grand jury, according to police.
