St. Paris PD continues search for masked gunman

Authorities are still looking for a masked man who used a Taser-like weapon to rob a St. Paris Sunoco gas station Friday night.

Law enforcement is still investigating the incident and have made no arrests as of Sunday afternoon, according the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office.

The armed robbery was reported shortly after 8 p.m. Friday at the business at 355 W. Main St.

“The suspect walked in armed with what appeared to be a Taser or stun gun weapon,” St. Paris Police Chief James Pence said Friday night. “He told the clerk to give him the money in the cash register.”

There were no injuries.

The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. A sheriff’s K-9 tracked the suspect, but ultimately lost his scent, the chief said.

Village Police Chief James Pence said tonight they are looking for a masked man who used a weapon to rob the local 2Sunoco gas station.

Pence said his department will be reviewing surveillance video to help identify the suspect.

Champaign County dispatchers said police and deputies tonight are searching for a suspect following a report of a robbery at a local gas station.

The incident was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at Sunoco, 355 W. Main St. in St. Paris.

There were no reports of injuries, dispatchers said.
