Coroner ID's man killed in Springfield crash

UPDATE @ 8 a.m.: Clark County Coroner's Office confirms the victim is 65-year-old Thomas Edward Norman of Springfield.

UPDATE @ 10:55 p.m.: Two people who tried to help the man killed in the Kenton Street crash said the victim was too far gone and couldn't be helped.

Steve Randall, who runs S & A auto, 1303 Kenton St., said the red pickup truck hit a parked vehicle on Kenton and came to rest on its top.

"The guy was unresponsive and out of the vehicle," Randall said. "The side of his face was pretty well gone... There was no helping the guy."

Randall said the vehicle took out a utility pole, a street sign and a stop sign after hitting the parked car.

Randy Dixon said he was on his way home and had just dropped off his brother when he saw the pickup truck rear-end a vehicle and flip upside down.

"He was hanging half in, half out of the truck," Dixon said. "I'm glad I wasn't sitting at the stop sign. Everything happened so fast."

UPDATE @ 10:08 p.m.: The driver of a pickup truck has been killed in the crash on Kenton Street that left the vehicle on its top.

Police are saying that so far, they've been able to confirm that the truck hit several parked vehicles and the driver was ejected.

The coroner's office has been notified.

FIRST TAKE: Springfield police are on the scene of a fatal accident on Kenton Street, at or near Beacon Street.

The accident reportedly occurred within the last 30 minutes.
