Police: ‘Bootleg’ bar busted at S. Euclid house

Police said a man was operating an illegal bar out of his two-story house on South Euclid Avenue.

The party was shut down after police found an estimated 100 people inside the building and numerous containers of alcohol for sale Saturday morning, according to the Dayton police report.

Police said Jahmal Lewis, 36, admitted that he owned the house, located in the 100 block of South Euclid.

As police arrived they heard loud music coming from the building and upon entering, spotted numerous bottles of beer, vodka and other hard liquor behind a makeshift bar, the report said.

Signs reading “A&B Lounge” were posted throughout the house. Restaurant tables, a pool table and two industrial friers were located inside the house, according to the report.

Lewis was summoned to court for alleged activities prohibited without a permit.

The alcohol containers inside the house were emptied by investigators.
