Owner uses gun to clear fight at Hookah bar

The owner of Hookah Star & Smoke Shop on Wayne Avenue cleared his business by firing gunshots after several people involved in a brawl refused to leave early Saturday.

Officers responded to the business, 1243 Wayne Ave., on a report of a large group of people involved in a fight possibly involving a gun and knife, according to a Dayton police report.

The owner, Nimr Ibrahim, fired two shots into the ceiling of his business after the people involved in the fight damaged several hookahs and the door of the business, the report said.

Ibrahim told police he had asked the people to leave the business several times before he fired his weapon.

Police said when they arrived around 15 people fled from the scene. Officers chased several of the people through yards in the area and were able to detain one person after deploying a Tazer, according to police.

Police said Steven Grimes, 20, refused to stop running from officers following multiple commands so the Tazer was deployed. Grimes was booked into jail on pending charges of obstructing official business.

Ibrahim was issued a summons for firing a weapon within city limits.
