A man fired a gun at his wife before he barricaded himself inside their home, according to Monroe police.

Guy Richard Perry, 56, was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. after surrendering to police following a standoff that lasted more than five hours.

Police responded around 10 a.m. to a domestic violence call at a home in the 700 block of South Main Street. When police arrived, a woman was running out the door, saying her husband had a gun and had attempted to shoot her, according to a release from Monroe police.

Multiple police agencies responded after the man had barricaded himself inside the home and allegedly would not cooperate with officers.

Police blocked Main Street between Carson and Old Orchard Lane, and a Butler County Special Weapons and Tactics team responded by 11 a.m. The standoff ended at 3:30 p.m. when Perry was taken into custody without incident, Monroe police said.

Perry was booked into the Butler County Jail and is behind held without bond on suspicion of attempted murder, domestic violence, receiving stolen property and on a weapons charge, online jail records show.
