KETTERING —

UPDATE @ 11:53a.m.: Kettering police said Joey Thompson was arrested for obstructing official business and resisting after this morning's standoff, as well as the three warrants against him.

Police said after they arrived at the scene, they found an empty handgun holster near the attic opening and believed Thompson may have been hiding with a weapon.

They called in SWAT, and a Crisis Negotiation Team responded to speak with Thompson.

SWAT members went into the attic and found Thompson, according to a news release. They said Thompson continued to "snake through the attic until he decided to stop hiding."

No one was hurt, according to police.

He was taken to Kettering Jail and charges against him will be sought through the prosecutor's office, police said.

UPDATE @9:30a.m.: Officers have escorted Thompson in handcuffs out of the house and the standoff is over.

As he was being escorted away, Thompson appeared upset and was yelling, then suddenly said in a friendly tone, "hey" to Kettering's public information officer.

UPDATE @8:18 a.m.: The subject who is keeping police at bay is 44-year-old Joey Thompson, the man wanted by Centerville police after he was caught on surveillance camera at Primary Village North School, according to Kettering police spokesman Ron Roberts.

Roberts said Thompson is wanted for three misdemeanor warrants: Theft in Kettering, driving under suspension in Xenia and trespassing in Centerville.

Police have been at the house since approximately 5:30 a.m.

Roberts said Kettering officers knew where Thompson lived and went to serve the warrant this morning.

He said Thompson has hidden himself away in the attic and is refusing to come out.

EARLIER

Police in Kettering have surrounded a house in what appears to be a standoff in tthe 5600 block of Overbrooke Road.

Police were on scene shortly after 6 a.m.

Scanner traffic indicated officers were trying to make contact with someone inside the house.
