Jail: Woman hides $1,700, drugs in underwear

A corrections officer found more than $1,700 cash hidden inside a woman’s bra, and heroin, cocaine and marijuana hidden in her underwear she was being booked into the Montgomery County Jail on drug charges, according to a Dayton police report.

T’Asia Stroud, 23, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday after police pulled over her rented white 2015 Jeep Cherokee in the 1700 block of Philadelphia Drive for a window tint violation. The officer detected a strong smell of marijuana, and asked to search the Jeep.

When the officer placed Stroud in handcuffs, he noticed crumbled up money in her pants pocket, which totaled $1,515, according to the police report.

Inside the Jeep, police found a bag with five hypodermic syringes and a gelatin capsule of heroin, two cellphones and an additional $9.

On the way to the jail, Stroud denied having any drugs on her person.

However, a corrections officer said she found $1,786 hidden in her bra. The corrections officer also found 28 gel caps of cocaine; 85 gel caps of heroin; a 2.5-gram bag of marijuana and a 2.3-gram chunk of heroin, according to the police report.

Stroud was booked on suspicion of trafficking in drugs; illegal conveyance of weapons, drugs or other prohibited items onto grounds of detention facility or institution; and possession of drugs, all felonies. She also a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug abuse instruments, online jail records show.

She is scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.
