UPDATE @ 1 p.m. June 6

Investigators believe the shooting occurred in the parking lot right in front of the Barber shop and not at the night club, which wasn’t open at the time, said Montgomery County Sheriff’s Major Daryl Wilson.

Detectives are still working to identify one or more suspects in this homicide.

UPDATE @ 9:55 a.m. June 6

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Roderick Blackburn.

UPDATE @ 10:55 p.m.:

Word of the death came moments after sheriff’s Maj. Daryl Wilson told us the man, believed to be in his 20s, was hit at least once in a hail of gunfire and smashed the car into the business at Germantown Pike and Soldiers Home-West Carrollton Road. The two other males in the car were not injured and they are cooperating with investigators, he said.

Wilson said he doesn’t believe the incident was a drive-by shooting. Investigators believe the man who was shot drove into the lot, for unknown reason, and confronted several subjects and shots were fired.

Asked about witness statements that someone in a green pickup truck got out and fired several rounds into the car, Wilson said, “someone from this parking lot, whether they were in a vehicle or not, fired shots.”

Multiple shots were fired, Wilson said, noting that all of the shell casings at the scene appear to be of the same caliber.

There are no suspects, Wilson said, but investigators are interested in a green “SUV-type vehicle.”

Wilson lauded the actions of several people who came to the aid of the shooting victim before a medic unit arrived.

“We need everybody’s eyes and ears to stop this,” Wilson said. He asked the public to call the county regional dispatch center, at 937-225-4357, with any information about the shooting.
