Suicide suspected after body found in UD Arena lot

UPDATE @ 10:17 p.m.:

Dayton police said suicide is suspected in the death of a male whose body was found tonight in a University of Dayton parking lot.

The male was found just before 9 p.m. under a car in the UD Arena parking lot, behind Welcome Stadium between the football stadium and arena.

Police did not release details about how the male died, but said it was an apparent suicide. The person’s name has not been released and it is not clear whether the death involved a UD student.

UPDATE @ 9:51 p.m.:

A person is covered by a white sheet underneath a car in the University of Dayton Arena parking lot, 1801 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. The car is located behind Welcome Stadium, between the arena and football stadium.

FIRST REPORT

Dayton police were called to University of Dayton Arena property tonight following a report of a “man down,” according to the Miami Valley Regional Dispatch Center.

A medic was requested when a male was found just before 9 p.m. No one was taken from the scene to a local hospital and a Dayton Police Department supervisor is at the arena in addition to other officers, according to the dispatch center.
