Person in trailer home hit by van is out of hospital

A man has been treated and released from an area hospital after a van slammed into a trailer home Thursday evening.

Curtis Jacobs was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center suffering from a leg injury after the van slammed into the trailer home at the Lazy River Trailer Park, in the 1600 block of South Main Street.

Elizabeth Royer, who was not home at the time, told NewsCenter 7’s Steve Baker that a can of kidney beans saved her life.

Police said the preliminary investigation shows the driver, who was not injured, apparently lost control of the van. The impact moved the trailer off its foundation and pushed it into a second trailer.

A witness told Baker on Thursday night that the driver said he was late for work.

The accident was reported sometime after 10 p.m.

Police said the accident is under investigation.
