Fire ravages vacant Mayfair Apartments

UPDATE @ 12:30 p.m.

This was the second time this morning Dayton crews responded to the Mayfair Apartments.

Officials tell us there was a fire at the same place earlier that was possibly electric.

The vacant units were boarded up and secured after that response, but firefighters found the building unsecured after returning hours later.

Officials said the cause of the fire appears to be suspicious.

Flames got into the attic from the first apartment and spread to four other units.

No one was living there, but now the units are uninhabitable.

FIRST REPORT

Crews responded to a Fire inside an apartment building in the 2000 block of Mayfair Road in Dayton this morning.

Smoke was showing from the single-story structure as firefighters arrived around 11 a.m.

Smoke continued to pour from one of the apartment units.

We’re on scene and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
