80 workers to start at Fuyao

Some 80 new workers will be brought to the Fuyao plant in the next two weeks.

An additional 80 to 100 new workers are expected to be hired monthly for the next several months, according to reports. The total expected employment once the site is fully operational is about 1,500 employees — well above the number GM employed when it left the site in late 2008.

The plant will have about 350 to 400 workers by the end of 2015.

Some 3,000 people have applied for openings at the plant.
