UPDATE @ 3:47 p.m. (May 27)

According to Sgt. Brett Bauer, traffic unit commander for Springfield police, the motorcyclist injured was Clarence Fitzgerald, 36, of Springfield. He was traveling west on Main Street and a pickup truck traveling east on Main Street turned into the path of the motorcycle while attempting to turn north onto Lagonda Avenue, according to preliminary investigation.

The pickup driver is Logan West, 17, of Springfield. He was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation, but Bauer said citations are likely for both motorists.

Fitzgerald was critical Thursday at Miami Valley Hospital. We are working to get an update on his condition, but Bauer said he was still at the hospital Friday because he called police and the prosecutor’s office from the hospital.
