Hollywood is showing Dayton some love, but that means downtown workers, residents and visitors face minor traffic disruptions as stars of the silver screen shoot a new crime movie.

Scenes from the “Old Man and the Gun,” starring Academy award winners Robert Redford and Casey Affleck, will be filmed Monday and Tuesday at multiple downtown locations.

The movie’s production crew will film at the Liberty Savings Bank building on West Second Street, which will be closed between Ludlow and Wilkinson streets starting at 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Second Street from Main to Ludlow streets also will be shut down from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Film crews will have vehicles, lights and boom lifts parked on Second Street over those two days, according to FilmDayton.

Though road closures create a minor traffic inconvenience, the movie will be a jolt in the arm for the local economy, said FilmDayton, a local nonprofit dedicated to building the region’s filming community.
