Driver pulled from submerged vehicle in Buck Creek at Snyder Park

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 5:35 p.m.

We are still working to find the condition of a man who was pulled from Buck Creek at Snyder Park Friday. Crews received a report of a vehicle in the water around 1 p.m. and upon arrival worked to free a victim from the vehicle.

Battalion Chief Jeremy Linn said the driver of the car was found unresponsive in Buck Creek right by the rapids.

Linn also commented that for some unknown reason the vehicle drifted through the parking area, struck another vehicle and proceeded down the hill into the water and floated down approximately 50 feet.

It took crews only four minutes once they arrived on scene to rescue the man that was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

UPDATE @ 2:10 p.m.:

A male driver was pulled from a vehicle submerged in Buck Creek at Snyder Park Friday afternoon.

Police said the man was unresponsive when they arrived on the scene.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, however police were not able to provide his condition.

Investigators are working to learn how the driver drove into the creek.

UPDATE @ 1:35 p.m.:

A man has been pulled from Buck Creek at Snyder Park and loaded onto an ambulance this afternoon.

A vehicle is still submerged in the water at the park.

We’re working to learn the condition of the man.

Fire crews have responded to Snyder Park this afternoon on a reported water rescue operation, according to initial reports.

The initial incident was reported just after 1 p.m.
