Repairs made to broken water main on N. Jefferson St.

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

UPDATE @ 10:47 a.m.

The water main break has been fixed and the road is clear for drivers.

The break was not weather related but due to the age of the water main, officials said.

Water was shut off from 4 to 7:30 a.m. Two affected businesses, nightclubs, were closed during the break so business was not disrupted.

The city of Dayton has had 12 main breaks this winter, which is less than half of usual number. They attribute that to mild weather.

The city of Dayton is spending about $8 million to replace old water mains. The city is in the fourth year of a 10-year replacement plan.
