Vigil planned for long-time Fairborn teacher

A vigil is being planned at the rock outside of Fairborn High School for a long-time teacher who died Thursday with ties to the district.

Wendi Kirsch, 60, wife of Tom Kirsch, passed away, according to a Facebook post on the district’s page.

“Please keep Tom and the entire Kirsch family in your thoughts and prayers,” the post read.  “At this time, the family respectfully requests privacy as they process their loss.”

The vigil is scheduled at 9 p.m. Friday night.

According to Wendi Kirsch’s LinkedIn profile, she’s taught at the Greene County Career Center for 27 years.

Her husband has taught science at Fairborn High School for years.

The Greene County Coroner’s Office is investigating Wendi Kirsch’s death and the cause and manner of how she died is listed as pending, according to a spokesman.

Fairborn police said there is no foul play suspected in her death.

The teacher died at her home, the coroner’s office said.
