The city of Trotwood wants to repave a quarter to half of the city's streets, but coming up with $11 million -- the cost estimated by the city manager -- will take some planning.

According to a survey performed by city public works officials, at least 35 percent of the city's streets that are in the worst shape need to be be repaved as soon as possible.

Most of those streets are in the western and southern portions of the city -- including the areas of Guenther Road, Salem Avenue, Mapleside and West Creek Drives.

"To address 68 miles that were rated poor, you're looking at roughly 11 million dollars, so that is why it's important, over the next couple of years, to address that in a comprehensive way," City Manager Quincy Pope told News Center 7's Caroline Reinwald on Monday night, when city council met in a work session to discuss the road maintenance and repair program.
