OHP: Medical emergency may have played role in fatal Preble crash

UPDATE @ 4:30 p.m.:  Charlene Studebaker is the 89-year-old Lewisburg resident killed in the Preble County crash on Ohio 503, said Lt. Mark Nichols, Ohio Highway Patrol Dayton Post.

The preliminary investigation reveals evidence that Studebaker, the at-fault driver, may have suffered a medical emergency, Nichols said, but the patrol is waiting for the coroner’s report.

The other driver, a 17-year-old, suffered minor injuries.

UPDATE @ 1:10 p.m. 

An 89-year-old Lewisburg woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 503 in Preble County Thursday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said an initial investigation found the woman went left-of-center and nearly slammed into the second vehicle head-on on Ohio 503 between Pundt Road and Horse Shoe Drive.

The driver of the other vehicle was observed by medics for minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The identity of the woman has not been released, pending notification of family.

Factors in the crash remain under investigation.

FIRST REPORT

State troopers said they’re investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Ohio 503 in Preble County Thursday.

Dispatchers said the crash was reported around 10:41 a.m. on Ohio 503 north of Lewisburg between Pundt Road and Horse Shoe Drive.
