Tipp City man, 66, ID’d as victim of fatal crash on U.S. 35 in Riverside

U.S. 35 westbound closed in Dayton due to fatal crash

UPDATE @ 8:25 a.m. (Sept. 28): 

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal, single-vehicle crash on U.S. 35 in Riverside as Lawrence Naas, 66, from Tipp City. 

OTHER LOCAL NEWS: 3 injured in crash of college students still critical

The cause and manner of Naas’ death has not been ruled and an autopsy is scheduled to be completed today. 

A woman was also injured in the crash, but her identity and condition have not been released.

UPDATE @ 7:13 p.m.: (Sept 27)U.S. 35 East is now reopened. That part of the investigation into the single-vehicle fatal rollover accident has been completed.

UPDATE @ 5:15 p.m.: (Sept 27) 

Police have put out the call for witnesses to the single-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. East that has left one person dead, Riverside Sgt. Angela Jackson said.

A Fairborn city medic unit, in the area at the time of the crash, was first on scene and took the female victim, believed to have been the driver, to a hospital. Her condition is not known. 

Sgt. Jackson said that according to the preliminary investigation, neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected. 

U.S. 35 East, which is backed up as far as Keowee Street in Dayton, to be shut down at least another hour for the accident investigation, she said.

UPDATE @ 4:15 p.m.: 

The fatality has been identified as a male, who was believed to be ejected in the rollover on U.S. 35 East in Riverside, a Riverside police officer said. 

A female injured in the accident has been taken to a hospital, the officer said. Her condition is not known. 

A police traffic reconstruction unit is headed to the scene as well.

Police in Riverside are investigating a crash that left one person dead on U.S. 35 westbound in Moraine.

UPDATE @ 4:02 p.m.: 

At least one person has been killed in what has been reported as a rollover accident.

The eastbound lanes are shut down until further notice.

INITIAL REPORT

A fatal rollover crash has been reported on U.S. 35 east approaching I-675 this afternoon.

Initial reports indicated a vehicle rolled during a crash around 3:45 p.m.

We’re hearing initial reports of at least one person dead and others possibly injured.

The eastbound lanes of U.S. 35 are closed at Woodman Drive.

The 2018 Dayton Women’s March will take place today, January 20.

The event, which will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at Courthouse Square (23 N. Main Street) is being organized by Dayton Women’s Rights Alliance, along with Dayton Indivisible for All and others.

The 2018 rally is designed to engage and empower all people to support women’s rights, human rights, civil rights, disability rights, and many others seeking equality.

Though the women’s movement has been around for decades, the historic march in Dayton began in January 2017 in order to unite with other cities throughout the U.S. to build a positive and just future for all.

Over five million people participated in women's marches around the world last January, including four million in the United States and 3,000 in Dayton.

Crews continue to battle major fire at AK Steel in Middletown

UPDATE @ 9:23 a.m: Crews continue to battle a massive fire at AK Steel in Middletown that occurred Saturday morning.

The address to the fire has been updated to the 3400 block of Lefferson Road, according to officials.

We are still working to learn details on the fire and will keep this story updated.

Multiple fire crews are responding to the 1800 block of Crawford Street on a structure fire at AK Steele in Middletown, per initial reports.

The incident was reported around 8:30 a.m., and is reportedly escalating.
