Springfield OSP trooper hospitalized after crash in Columbus

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper of the Springfield Post was hospitalized after his cruiser was involved in a crash with a semi on Interstate 270 in Columbus Saturday.

Trooper Jimmy Estle, 30, was taken to Riverside Hospital by a squad with non-life threatening injuries after his cruiser struck the rear of a semi tractor carrying a trailer, according to a release.

Estle’s cruiser then hit the interior wall in the median eastbound on IR 270 around 3 a.m.

The driver of the semi, Edgar Fannin, 48, of Grove City was not injured, a release stated.

The crash is under investigation.
