Springfield man charged in connection with shooting at Wayside Tavern

A Springfield man faces multiple felony charges in connection with a shooting at a bar earlier this year that left one person injured.

Corey L. Ames, 33, of 414 W. Euclid Ave., has been charged with improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, having weapons while under disability and carrying concealed weapons.

He was arrested by Clark County deputies about 4:45 a.m. Thursday. Ames is expected to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Deputies and medics responded about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 29 to the 2200 block of South Yellow Springs Street on the report of several gunshots fired outside the Wayside Tavern.

After the incident, deputies viewed surveillance video that captured the incident, according to court records. Ames allegedly can be seen on the video pulling a firearm out of his sweatshirt, according to court records, and shooting it from the building toward South Yellow Springs Street and homes on the other side of the street.
