Snow won’t stop MLK March in Dayton

Winter weather won’t stop the annual MLK march Monday, Anthony Whitmore, president of the MLK Dayton Celebration said.

“When you think in terms of the Civil Rights Movement, and humans right movement, we’ve been through so much more than worrying about snow. ... Snow, rain, that’s not going to stop us from marching, this is about what people are willing to sacrifice for the greater good,” Whitmore said.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration march steps off at 10 a.m. Monday at Charles Drew Health Center, 1323 W. Third St. The march will head to the Third Street Bridge for photos, then end at 11 a.m. at the Dayton Convention Center for an MLK Youth Celebration.

Two inches of snowfall is expected in the area with up to 3 inches in some spots, according to meteorologist Brett Collar.
