Sinclair to award $200,000 worth of scholarships for students through random drawing

Sinclair Community College announced it is launching a $200,000 scholarship program for students enrolled for the 2021 Fall Term.

Ten students will be randomly selected to receive $5,000 scholarships throughout each week of August, the college said.

Five of the recipients each week will be new students, while the other five will be continuing students.

The drawings will be held on August 2,9,16 and 23.

“Sinclair College is thrilled to offer this opportunity to build excitement around fall enrollment and, more importantly, provide vital support to our students who have worked so hard through the pandemic,” said Dr. Scott Markland, Senior Vice President for Student Development – Sinclair Community College.

The college says students currently enrolled are automatically entered into each week’s drawing.

New students who register for Fall 2021 courses the Sunday before the next weekly drawing are automatically entered.

The scholarships will cover tuition, books, and other billed expenses.

As long as a student is enrolled in at least one credit hour in Fall 2021, they are eligible for the drawing.

Students in College Credit Plus, Advanced Job Training, and other non-tuition paying programs are not eligible for the scholarships.

Recipients will receive the full amount of the award before any other sources of financial aid or scholarships are applied. The college is using internal scholarship funds for the program.
