Deputies said an initial investigation found a 2008 Kia, driven by Lisa Rinderle, 27, of St. Henry, stopped at a stop sign at Ohio 29, but failed to yield the right of way, entered into the intersection, and crashed into a semi, according to a media release from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash caused the semi, driven by Charles W. Ward, 57, of St. Mary’s, to overturn and was hit again by a 2018 Volvo driven by Terry Green II, 37, of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Ward was transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater where he was pronounced dead.

Rinderle was also transported to Mercer Health for treatment, but her condition was not released. Green was treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains other investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the findings of their investigation will be passed onto the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges.

This is the third fatal crash in Mercer County this year, according to the sheriff’s office.
