Reports: 1 rescued from Great Miami River near North Keowee Street bridge

DAYTON — Fire crews rescued one person who was found clinging to a bridge support brace in the Great Miami River in Dayton Thursday morning, according to initial reports.

Rescue crews and police were called to the area of the North Keowee Street bridge, north of Stanley Avenue, around 7:15 a.m. on reports of a water rescue.

Emergency scanner traffic indicates rescue crews were able to get boats in the water and rescued the victim from the river. The victim was reportedly taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment, however their condition was not immediately known.

Police initially blocked both directions of the North Keowee Street bridge north of Stanley Avenue for the investigation. However the bridge was reopened to traffic before 8 a.m.
