What most people know about leasing a car is that the monthly payment is lower than if they finance a purchase for the car. And while leases are becoming a more and more popular option in the car business, many people are still choosing to buy, despite the potential of paying thousands of extra dollars. So why are so many people still choosing non-lease options? Here are the three main reasons people use to justify not leasing a car, and why, in each case, leasing is still a good option to consider.

1. “I never own the car”

This is true. At no point in the lease does the driver actually own the vehicle. However, if you finance a purchase on a vehicle, you don’t actually own the car either, until the loan is fully paid off in five or six years. Until then, the bank owns the car, just like in a lease. A huge percentage of people end up driving their cars for less than the term of their purchase anyway -- they trade in their car long before they actually pay it off.

2. “I drive too many miles”

The average Ohio driver drives 15,000 miles per year, but many, many people drive less than this average. There are lease options for almost every driving scenario you can think of. In nearly every case, you can build a lease that matches your driving needs and still end up paying hundreds less each month than financing a purchase. If you drive less than 15,000 miles per year, you can save even more money.

3. “I don’t really understand how a lease works”

That's exactly what the folks at SVG Motors are trying to change. A lease is often a much better, and more affordable, option than a purchase. Not only is the monthly payment much lower, but at the end of the lease, people often end up owing nothing. At the end of the typical three-year lease, when purchasers still owe thousands of dollars on their cars, you can be out of one vehicle with nothing owed and easily into another. If you love the car you leased, you can get the brand new version of it, or you can buy out the one you already love driving.

Lease specials don't last forever, so if you see a great lease deal advertised, make sure you take advantage of it. As always, the good people at SVG Motors are available to answer any of your auto leasing or buying questions, so check them out at their website or at (937) 898-1616.
