I-75 pursuit originating in Miami County ends in Harrison Twp.

HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ 10:15 a.m. 

A driver was taken to an area hospital after a pursuit on I-75 ended in Harrison Twp. Friday morning.

The pursuit began on southbound I-75 near Piqua after a state trooper attempted to pull the driver over for a speeding violation, according to investigators.

The driver continued in the southbound lanes of I-75 before coming to a stop on the exit ramp to Needmore Road in Harrison Twp. Troopers said the driver maintained lanes, drove near the speed limit, and used turn signals while they pursued him on the highway.

Troopers said they gave the driver commands to exit the car, but he refused and resisted commands. The driver was taken into custody after he was hit with a Taser.

Investigators are not sure why the driver didn’t stop and transported him to a hospital for observation.

A pursuit that went through Miami County and into Montgomery County has ended on the ramp from I-75 to Needmore Road.

Officers were on the scene around 9:20 a.m.

It’s unclear what led to the chase, but a medic has been requested to the scene, according to initial reports.
