Miami Twp. Target purse-snatcher suspect indicted

MIAMI TWP. — UPDATE @ 6:40 p.m. (Nov. 5):

A 26-year-old man is charged with robbery after police said was the man shown on security video Oct. 18 forcibly stealing the pocketbook of a 69-year-old woman in the parking lot of Target, 2300 Miamisburg Centerville Road.

Douglas J. Bedsole Jr. of South Lebanon will be arraigned Tuesday after he was indicted Friday by a Montgomery County grand jury. He remains held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond. Online jail records also show he is wanted in Warren County and was on parole at the time of his arrest.

UPDATE @ 4:16 p.m. (Oct. 26):

Miami Twp. police have arrested Douglas James Bedsole Jr., 26, for robbery after he was identified in security surveillance video inside the Miami Twp. Target store on Oct. 18.

That day, police say Bedsole forcibly stole the wallet of a 69-year-old woman who was walking to her car in the store’s parking lot.

Bedsole’s photograph was shared on television and on social media and that helped police identify him and arrest him at a home in South Lebanon in Warren County.

Bedsole is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $150,000 bond. He is due in court Friday morning, and also is wanted in Warren County, according to online jail records.

FIRST REPORT (Oct. 22):

Miami Twp. police are asking the public to help find a man they say robbed an elderly woman in a Target parking lot Thursday.

In surveillance video from the store at 2300 Miamisburg Centerville Road, a man can be seen approaching the woman and grabbing her purse before running away.

The woman attempts to run after the man and after a few steps falls in the parking lot.

Police said the man appears to have numerous tattoos on his arms and legs and was last seen leaving the store in a gold and silver two-door car.
