Police: Explosive device detonated in truck bed part of ongoing dispute

An explosive device damaged a truck parked on Shedbourne Avenue in Dayton Monday morning in what police described as an ongoing dispute.

Police and fire crews were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Shedbourne Avenue around 8:20 a.m. Monday on first reports of smoke seen in the area.

Investigators said they found an explosive device, possibly an M-80 firework, was placed the the bed of a truck, exploded, and sent items in the truck’s bed across the street.

The truck’s windshield was also damaged, but it was not clear if the damage was from the explosion or if it was done separately.

Investigators told our crew the incident appears to be connected to an ongoing dispute, but wouldn’t release any other details. Police did not say if they had any suspects or if any charges could be filed.

No injuries were reported.
