Dayton police are investigating an alleged sexual assault in a city school building.

Officers initially were called about 3 p.m. Tuesday when a Dayton Public Schools resource officer asked for assistance after about 10 relatives of the alleged victim went to Thurgood Marshall STEM High School. The resource officer said the relatives made threats after hearing about the alleged incident.

"We got some parents thinking that somebody has assaulted their daughter up here. We've got like 10 family members up here in this office. We need a cruiser up here," the school resource officer said in a call for assistance.

The case involves a 16-year-old girl, according to a police incident report that lists it as a potential rape investigation. There are no arrests or suspects listed in the Dayton police report.

Dayton police would not discuss the case further, other than to say the investigation is in the hands of the department's Special Victims Unit.

A Dayton Public School official on Wednesday acknowledged the investigation into an alleged sexual assault, and she confirmed that the allegations stem from an incident on the school campus.

“Yesterday, Tuesday, January 30, 2018, there was an allegation of a sexual assault at Thurgood Marshall STEM High School, after which Dayton Public Schools security reviewed the claim,” according to a statement from Marsha Bonhart, director of media and public relations for the district. “Dayton police were called, and the investigation is now in their hands.”

UPDATE: 12:15 p.m.: Dayton Public School today officials acknowledged an investigation into an alleged sexual assault at a city school Tuesday.

“Yesterday, Tuesday, January 30, 2018, there was an allegation of a sexual assault at Thurgood Marshall STEM High School, after which Dayton Public Schools security reviewed the claim,” according to a statement from Marsha Bonhart, director of media and public relations for the district. “Dayton police were called, and the investigation is now in their hands.”

FIRST REPORT: Dayton police were called to Thurgood Marshall High School after a school security officer reported families making threats regarding an alleged assault.

"We've got some parents thinking that somebody has assaulted their daughter up here,” the school security officer told dispatchers.

Officers responded to the school Tuesday around 3 p.m.  and ultimately took a rape report, however its not clear where the reported rape may have happened.

The victim is said to be a 16-year-old female, according to a Dayton police report.

There are no arrests or suspects listed in the Dayton police report.
