1 arrest, 18 citations or violations issued at OVI checkpoint in Montgomery County

UPDATE @ 12:14 a.m. (Nov. 23): The OVI sobriety checkpoint, operated Wednesday night in the 5900 block of North Dixie Drive by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and the county combined agency OVI task force, resulted in one arrest and 18 citations or violations.

That's according to information the sheriff's office released just before midnight Wednesday:

  • 6 citations for driving under suspension,
  • 2 no driver's license citations,
  • 4 child restraint citations,
  • 1 temporary permit violation,
  • 1 expired registration,
  • 1 arrest on an outstanding traffic warrant and
  • 1 impaired driving arrest
  • Saturation patrols resulted in single citations for display of license plates, seat belt and a traffic control device.

More than 600 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, according to the sheriff's office.

An OVI checkpoint is planned in Harrison Twp. Wednesday evening, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The checkpoint is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the 5900 block of North Dixie Drive.

Deputies and other law enforcement also will be conducting saturation patrol to help identify and remove impaired drivers from area roads.

During 2017, deputies have made 59 arrests for impaired driving in areas surrounding the checkpoint location, deputies said.

Of the 59 arrests, 21 were associated with crashes and one of those crashes was fatal, according to authorities.
