Power restored to Fairborn area after overnight outage

FAIRBORN — UPDATE @ 6 a.m.

DP&L said power has been restored to parts of the Fairborn area after an outage that lasted over five hours.

DP&L spokesperson Kelly Millhouse said the outage is blamed on a equipment malfunction in a branch station.

Several crews have been on scene since just after the outage was reported around 12:45 a.m.

Power was estimated to be restored by 6:30 a.m. but an online outage map reports power was restored by 6 a.m.

UPDATE @ 4:10 a.m.

411 DP&L customers remain without power, nearly three hours after an outage was reported in the Fairborn area.

The cause of the outage, and when power is expected to be restored, is unknown.

FIRST REPORT

Over 400 DP&L customers are reported without power in the Fairborn area Friday morning.

According to an online DP&L outage map at 1:30 a.m., 411 customers are currently reported in the dark while showers move through the area.

Dispatchers with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said they were aware of the reported outage, but units were not on the scene of anything that could be the cause.

DP&L dispatchers said the outage was centered in the Fairborn area, but the cause was unknown. A representative is expected to release more information later this morning.
