Motorcycle-van collision in Troy sends 1 to hospital

UPDATE @ 9:55 p.m.:  The intersection of state Route 718 and Washington Road in Troy has reopened.

INITIAL REPORT

A man on a motorcycle has been taken to Miami Valley Hospital following a collision with a van at state Route 718 and Washington Road in Troy.

The man on the bike, who was wearing a helmet, suffered a severe leg injury, according to Troy police. He was taken to the hospital by CareFlight. His condition is not known.

The driver of the van was not injured in the accident that occurred just about 6:40 p.m.

At 8 p.m., the intersection remains shut down for the Miami County sheriff's traffic reconstruction unit, which is assisting police in the investigation.
