Pickup driver flown from I-70 crash scene in Clark County will be cited

MAD RIVER TWP., Clark County — UPDATE @ 10:55 a.m. 

Sgt. Merrill Thompson of OSHP said the pickup driver rear-ended the semi-tractor trailer, according to preliminary investigation.

The pickup driver, Robert McGill, 25, of Urbana, will be cited in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt, the investigation showed.

The semi driver, Omar Ahmed, 35, of Faribault, Minnesota, was not injured.

UPDATE @ 9:20 a.m. 

The left two lanes of I-70 west have reopened west of U.S. 68 in Clark County following a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported by a medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

State troopers shut down the westbound lanes of the highway to allow for the medical helicopter to land and transport the patient.

Emergency crews first responded to westbound I-70, west of U.S. 68 around 8:15 a.m. on reports of a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi.

Initial reports indicate the pickup truck crashed into the back of a trailer and a medical helicopter has been requested to the scene.
