Loose pit bull causes pandemonium in Dayton neighborhood

A man in Dayton shot a pit bull with a BB gun after it got loose and was running through a neighborhood charging at people.

Officers responded around 8 p.m. Wednesday to the 1900 block of Kipling Drive, according to a Dayton police report.

The dog’s owner told police the dog got away from her daughter who took the dog outside on a leash. The owner and her daughter chased after the dog, which eventually ran back into their house, the report stated.

A man three doors down from the owner’s home told police he shot the dog with a BB gun after it charged him while he was on his front porch.

Neighbors said it wasn’t the first time the dog got loose.

The dog’s owner was cited for failure to control the dog, according to the report.
