Large gas leak reportedly contained in Fairborn

FAIRBORN — UPDATE @ 7:55 a.m.

Scanner traffic from the scene indicates the gas leak on Commerce Center Boulevard has been contained.

Our crew on the scene reports police have removed road closed signs and traffic is moving again in the area.

More information is expected to be released shortly.

UPDATE @ 7:20 a.m.

The Dayton regional Hazmat team has been requested to a large gas leak on Commerce Center Boulevard in Fairborn.

Multiple roads are blocked for the investigation, but there have been no word of any evacuations.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters have reported a gas leak in the area of Commerce Center Boulevard and Trebein Road in Fairborn

Crews were dispatched near the intersection around 6:20 a.m. on the smell of gas in the area.

Scanner traffic from the scene indicates there is an audible sound of a gas leak, along with a strong smell in the area of natural gas.

Firefighters told dispatchers there is believed to be a leak in a Vectren distribution line.

Police and firefighters have blocked Commerce Center Boulevard between Trebein Road and Dayton Yellow Springs Road for the investigation.

It was not immediately known if any nearby homes would be evacuated.
