Patrol airplane leads to pursuit arrest, suspect ID’d

Kettering — UPDATE @ 8:28 a.m. (Dec. 29):

Troopers identified the man arrested after being tracked by an Ohio State Highway Patrol airplane following a high-speed pursuit Thursday as Mateen Harvey, 22.

Harvey was booked into jail on suspicion of fleeing and eluding, however official charges have not yet been filed, troopers said.

INITIAL REPORT:

A driver who fled State Troopers on US-35 was eventually arrested Monday afternoon at his Kettering residence near Bromley Place.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officers first attempted to initiate a traffic stop on US-35 after an aerial speed camera caught the suspect’s vehicle traveling at least forty miles over the speed limit, according to Kettering Police.

The suspect fled troopers and OSP eventually had to cancel the pursuit due to safety concerns. However, the aerial plane continued to track the suspect’s vehicle and was able to identify his residence.

Kettering Police were then able to arrest the suspect at his residence and the suspect will reportedly be facing drug charges in addition to speeding and evading police.
