1 injured when vehicle slams into utility pole in Washington Twp.

WASHINGTON TWP. — UPDATE @ 10:45 p.m. (Sept. 30): A section of Clyo Road remains closed at 10:45 p.m. because of an earlier vehicle accident and Dayton Power & Light hopes to have the road reopened about 11:30 p.m. after repairs are made to a pole hit by the vehicle.

A four-door sedan slammed into the pole just before 5 p.m., sending one person to a hospital and forcing the closure of Clyo between Nutt and East Social Row roads. The condition of the victim was not available.

Kelly Millhouse, a DP&L spokeswoman and director of substation operations, said the pole wasn’t damaged but its cross-arms, braces and other hardware were damaged and had to be replaced.

A first crew was able to rehang the power lines, she said, but a second crew was needed to replace the pole’s hardware and make other permanent repairs to the pole.

Millhouse said the repairs and cleanup will have to be completed before the road can be reopened. She said she believes that will be about 11:30 p.m.
