Infant hospitalized after apartment fire in Dayton

Firefighters said a young child was hospitalized after a fire broke out in a Dayton apartment Thursday morning.

Crews responded to an apartment building in the 3000 block of Lakeridge Court in Dayton around 8:30 a.m. and reported smoke showing from the structure.

Officials said the fire was contained to one room of an apartment, but an infant did suffer injuries. The child was transported for treatment of injuries that are believed to be minor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
