By Steve Baker, News Center 7

It was a big afternoon today in the Greenville City School District when they dedicated the new Greenville K-8 Elementary and Middle School facility.

It’s described by the district as the “state-of-the-art building for students to be educated and the staff to instruct for years to come.”

The school’s 1,700 students returned from Christmas vacation to the new $50 million building in January. The more than 230,000-square-foot school was covered with more than 190,000 bricks. It features 266 clocks,  325 doors and 217 security cameras.

A large crowd turned out to tour the building after the dedication.
