Germantown family displaced after fire damages home

A Germantown family will be displaced after a fire damaged their home on East Center Street late Thursday night.

Fire crews from Germantown and Farmersville responded to the call in the 400 block of East Center Street around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said when crews first arrived they encountered flames shooting out of the structure between 20 and 30 feet in the air.

Firefighters said the fire was quickly knocked down and appears to have started in the home’s attic. The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated by the state fire marshal’s office.

The home’s occupants were able to safely evacuate the home but will be displaced. They will receive assistance from the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported.
