Firefighters extinguish 3-acre corn field fire in Clark Co.

UPDATE @ 3 a.m.

Firefighters have left the scene of a field fire after the blaze was put under control around 2:30 a.m.

Additional details were not given by crews before leaving the area.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions in Clark County have responded to a reported field fire in Harmony Township Tuesday morning.

Crews were first dispatched around 1:30 a.m. to a corn field in the 2800 block of South Buena Vista Road, about three miles north of South Charleston.

Reports from the scene indicates three acres of a corn field were burning when the first crews arrived.

Andy Grimm, the New Carlisle News photographer shot by a deputy last month on the job, was spotted working today at an accident scene.

News Center 7 photographer Jim Noelker this evening caught up with Grimm when they both responded to a crash in New Carlisle.

Grimm showed Noelker where the bullet entered on the left side of his torso and came out on his side.

He was shot around 2 a.m. Sept. 4 by Clark County Sheriff’s deputy Jacob Shaw at a crash scene. Shaw said he shot Grimm because in the dark he mistook the tripod Grimm was carrying for a gun.

Cedarville HS band plays Greenon fight song in honor of student killed in crash

At tonight's Greenon vs Cedarville game, Cedarville's band played Greenon's fight song to honor Kendal “Kenny” DePhillip, who died in a car accident on Sunday (CONTRIBUTED/Mariah Gossett).

The Cedarville High School marching band tonight played the Greenon High School fight song in honor of the marching band member killed in a weekend crash.

The Cedarville band faced Greenon fans when they played the fight song.

It was in tribute of 16-year-old Kendal “Kenny” DePhillip, a Greenon  junior who was a passenger in a car that crashed Sunday afternoon on Fowler Road in Clark County. He was a member of the marching band and on the swim team.

The musical tribute happened during the football game at the Cedarville stadium, which Greenon’s varsity team won with a score of 7-6. Video above was contributed by student Mariah Gossett.

The driver of the car was a fellow Greenon student, 16-year-old Andrew Scott, who sustained non-life threatening injuries.

DePhillip was the third Greenon student to die in a crash this academic year.

A crash in August killed David Waag and Connor Williams.

Woman taken to hospital after Miamisburg fire; garage set afire last week

FROM SCENE: One sent to hospital from Miamisburg house fire

UPDATE @ 11 p.m.

A 21-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital tonight to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The property owner said there was a fire last week at the home’s detatched garage, though he would not provide further details about that incident.

The owner of the dwelling in the 700 block of East Central Avenue said there are three people who live on the first floor: an infant, the woman and the woman’s mother. There is one person who lives on the second floor.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Miami Valley Fire District.

UPDATE @ 10:10 p.m.

One person was sent to a local hospital tonight after a house fire in Miamisburg.

The fire was reported in the 700 block of East Central Avenue.

The victim’s condition was unknown.

The fire was reported around 9:30 p.m. in the 700 block of East Central Avenue.

According to initial reports, fire was showing from the rear of the two-story house.

SB I-75 back open after semi, 2-car crash in Tipp City

UPDATE @ 9:30 p.m.

Two southbound lanes of Intersate 75 in Tipp City are back open following a crash involving a semi hauling new cars and two cars.

A third lane remains closed for road construction.

The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Tipp City are closed tonight following a crash involving a semi and two cars.

The highway is shut down just south of exit 68, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Piqua Post.

The crash was reported around 7:45 p.m.
