U.S. 35 E crash kills one in Dayton

UPDATE @ 11 p.m.:

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Dayton on U.S. 35 that shut down the ramps to Interstate 75 for hours.

LOCAL NEWS: Fatality reported in Trotwood house fire

The crash victim’s name, age and hometown would not be available until Monday, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The victim was riding in a sport-utility vehicle involved in a collision with another vehicle near the ramps. The SUV overturned in the crash.

Dispatchers said the ramps from U.S. 35 east to I-75 have reopened.

UPDATE @ 11:47 a.m.:
The ramps from U.S. 35 east to I-75 are expected to be closed for about another hour following a crash that killed one person, Dayton police Sgt. Chad Knedler said.

Police said two vehicles collided in the area of the ramps and one of the vehicles, an SUV, rolled. One person in that vehicle died and the other occupants left on their own, according to Knedler.

Officials said they are still working to determine how the two vehicles collided.

The occupants of the other vehicle were uninjured, Knedler said.

INITIAL REPORT:

A fatal crash has been reported on U.S. 35 east near Interstate 75 this morning, according to police.

The crash was reported just before 10 a.m.

Officers on the scene reported the ramps from U.S. 35 east to I-75 north and south will be closed for several hours.

Initial reports indicated an SUV was reported on its side.
