Fairmont HS student who brought gun to school ordered to treatment program

UPDATE @ 4:21 p.m.:

The teen who brought an unloaded gun to Kettering Fairmont High School was sentenced to undergo treatment at the Center for Adolescent Services at Montgomery County Juvenile Court. He will serve between four and nine months, said Judge Anthony Capizzi.

The judge told the teen he deserved a second chance.

"Many people think you should have gone to prison today. I still think you deserve a second chance,” Capizzi said in court. "You're lucky you're not dead. You're lucky that when you got to school you didn't get shot."

INITIAL REPORT:

The Fairmont High School freshman accused of bringing an unloaded gun to school last month will learn his criminal punishment today.

The teen boy will be sentenced in Montgomery County Juvenile Court this afternoon at 3:30. Kettering City Schools punished the student with a suspension and recommendation for expulsion.

News Center 7 is working to learn what the student's criminal punishment will be for the incident.
