Drugs hidden in woman’s bra, sentence handed down

TROY — A Ludlow Falls woman accused of possessing and concealing drugs on her person including having fentanyl in a plastic bag in her bra when taken to the Miami County Jail was sentenced Monday to two years of community control and ordered to get treatment for drug addiction.

Natosha Lanter, 30, was arrested by West Milton police in August after a stop of a vehicle in which she was a passenger. In checking IDs of everyone in the car, the officer found she was wanted on a Miami County warrant and took her to the police station before the county jail.

The officer reported Lanter told him she had concealed a bag with Xanax in a body cavity and was concerned she might overdose. The bag was removed before she was taken to the jail.

While processing her into the jail, a corrections officer saw another bag sticking out of her bra. The officer said Lanter told him the bag contained fentanyl and that she forget she had stashed it in her bra.

She was charged with several offenses before pleading guilty in October in Common Pleas Court to felony attempted aggravated possession of drugs.

Judge Christopher Gee told Lanter at sentencing that she had "a pretty significant amount of drugs on you" when taken into custody by police. He asked why she was not already seeking drug treatment.

"If I leave you out running around and you are not in treatment, there is a much higher chance you will be one of the people found overdosed somewhere," Gee said. "You think you have everything under control, and you don't."

Asked if she wanted to go to prison or into treatment, Lanter chose treatment. She was placed on community control, ordered to get a full-time job, undergo a drug assessment and all treatment recommended and to follow a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew. If she fails to meet the requirements, she faces 18 months in prison.
