Driver who claims he fell asleep hits another vehicle near Troy

A driver who told police he fell asleep while driving sent two people to a hospital in a wreck he caused in the 1400 block of County Road 25A, south of Troy.

Troy Officer Adam Simpson said the man accused of causing the crash was headed north on County Road 25A in a red minivan that crossed the center line and sideswiped an oncoming minivan just before 4 p.m.

Two elderly people in the oncoming vehicle were taken to a hospital, suffering from injuries not believed to be serious, the officer said.

Simpson said the at-fault driver will be cited for crossing over marked lanes.
