Driver seriously hurt in head-on crash in Moorefield Twp.

UPDATE @ 4:50 p.m.

One driver was seriously injured in a head-on crash in the 6000 block of Urbana Road in Moorefield Twp.

CareFlight was requested but could not fly because of winter weather moving into the Miami Valley.

A Cadillac and minivan collided. The driver of the Cadillace was seriously hurt and taken to the hospital. The van driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol Springfield Post.

Nearby Willow Road was shut down as emergency crews remained on scene.


Crews are responding to a reported serious crash involving two vehicles in the 6000 block of Urbana Road.

CareFlight was requested to respond at approximately 3:45 p.m. but the medical helicopter is unable to fly because of inclement weather, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Two medic units were called as well.

Strong storms may threaten Miami Valley today

A couple rounds of showers and storms today will affect the Miami Valley.

A powerful spring storm system moved through the Central Plains Wedneday night produced strong to severe storms in that region. The storms spread eastward into the Mississippi Valley Wednesday night and will move into the lower Ohio and Tennessee valleys today.

Showers and storms expected to redevelop in our warm and moist environment for late day and mainly for the evening hours. Storms could become severe with most of the Miami Valley under and "Slight Risk" for severe storms.

Damaging winds will be the main threat but large sized hail or even an isolated tornado can't be ruled out. We look to be the most active from 5 p.m. through midnight. Some scattered showers then overnight into early Friday.

Stay "weather aware" for the evening hours with the threat for severe storms. 

Showers and a few storms will still be possible into Friday, but the severe weather threat will rapidly decrease early Friday morning.

Woman arrested in Lakeview Ave. stabbing

Pamela E. Burns was taken into police custody in connection with a Lakeview Avenue stabbing on March 30, 2017.

UPDATE @11:37 a.m. 

A woman was taken into police custody in connection with the Lakeview Avenue stabbing Thursday morning. 

Pamela E. Burns is being held at the Montgomery County Jail on a felonious assault charge. 

Burns is also being held on a parole violation, according to online jail records. 


Police and medics have responded to a report of a person stabbed on Lakeview Avenue in Dayton Thursday morning. 

Officers were first dispatched to the 2800 block of Lakeview Avenue around 2 a.m. on initial reports of a fight with people threatening to use knives, according to police scanner traffic. 

The condition of the victim was not immediately known. 

This is the second stabbing reported in Dayton Thursday morning. A man was reportedly stabbed multiple times inside an apartment on Idylwilde Boulevard around 1 a.m.

3 arrested in Dayton apartment stabbing

UPDATE @10:51 a.m. 

Three suspects have been taken into police custody in connection with the Idylwilde Boulevard stabbing early Thursday. 

Juan Bell, 41; Alton Herron III, 45; and Hope Hatton, 33, were arrested on North Dixie Drive, according to a police.

 According to the incident report, the suspects forced their way into an apartment where one victim was assaulted, and another victim was stabbed at least twice.

UPDATE @4:06 a.m. 

Josh Chapman, who lives in the building, said he  went to the apartment after he heard yelling and screaming. 

“The gentleman was lying on the floor bleeding from both legs,” he said. “He was stabbed in both legs.”

INITIAL REPORT @1:48 a.m. 

One person has reportedly been stabbed multiple times inside an apartment on Idylwilde Boulevard in Dayton Thursday morning. 

Police and medics were dispatched to the 3400 block of Idylwilde Boulevard around 1:05 am. on initial reports of a man stabbed. 

Initial reports indicate the victim was stabbed multiple times, but his condition was not immediately known. 

A witness who lives in the complex told our crew he heard a disturbance inside the victim’s apartment and a few people leave the scene before police arrived.

UPDATE @ 10:53 a.m. (March 30):

Sheriff’s deputies have released additional information on the two vehicles they are searching for in connection to the death of Travis Bourne, 34.

Deputies are searching for a silver four-door 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier with Ohio plate GVF4919 and a grey two-door 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Ohio plate EEN3387.

Investigators are looking for anyone that may have had contact with the victim over the weekend or may have information on the investigation.

UPDATE @ 4:26 p.m.The death of 34-year-old Travis Bourne, found dead in his home Tuesday night, is being investigated as a homicide and the Preble County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two vehicles that were taken from the residence.

As a result of the discovery and theft, the sheriff’s office is reaching out to the public for information.

New Paris police officers were dispatched around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday to Bourne’s residence in the 500 block of Cardinal Hill Drive on a welfare check, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Family members had asked for the check because Bourne had not been heard from in a couple days.

Officers found him deceased. The sheriff’s office has not released any details about a possible manner or cause of death.

Police and deputies remained at the residence nearly six hours, processing the scene for evidence. Investigators maintained the scene overnight and returned late this morning to collect more evidence.

An autopsy has been performed on Bourne. The investigation is continuing.

NEW PARIS — The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death on Cardinal Hill Drive in New Paris. 

The county coroner’s office will perform an autopsy Wednesday morning.
