Driver freed from wreckage after single-vehicle crash near Piqua

MIAMI COUNTY — A driver was pinned inside a car after crashing into a ditch east of Piqua Thursday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the 1000 block of East Statler Road, east of Troy Sidney Road, around 10 a.m. on reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver lost control for an unknown reason and traveled off the side of the road and into a ditch, investigators said. The vehicle ended up on its side and trapped the driver inside.

The driver was extricated from the car and transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment. Their condition is not known but investigators believe the injuries are not serious.

Investigators said the driver was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
